About McAuley Catholic High School

The McAuley Catholic High School is a very successful, oversubscribed Catholic school situated in a pleasant environment three miles from the town centre.  There are 1719 pupils on roll including 332 in the Sixth Form.

We are a Catholic school and the majority of our students come from the Catholic families who live in the Borough of Doncaster and North Nottinghamshire.  Within our school we live out our Christian values and hope that each day everyone experiences the love of Christ.

All our staff whether Catholic or not are supportive of our ethos and mission and work with us to uphold our principles.  This is fundamental to all that we do in McAuley.

Our school is split site with sites approximately ¼ mile apart, but it does operate as one school.  The school was formed by an amalgamation of St Peter’s, an 11-16 school and The Catherine McAuley School, a 13-18 school and is one of the largest Catholic High Schools in the country. The original St Peter’s site accommodates Years 7 to 9 but some departments are also based on this site, i.e., Geography, Modern Languages, Technology and Performing Arts.  The original Catherine McAuley school site accommodates Years 10 – 13 and the sixth form block is also on this site.

The school has a teaching staff of 132 teachers, 64 Learning/Behaviour Support staff (which includes LSA’s/student support, technicians, data and ICT, inclusion and pastoral) and 38 administration/finance and support staff.

There is a highly skilled and experienced Senior Leadership Team.

Teaching staff are divided into Curriculum Areas and middle leaders work effectively with their teams.

Year groups are managed by Heads of Year. Non-teaching Pastoral Support Assistants are responsible for year groups and support teaching staff in the management of students learning and behaviour. There is, in addition, excellent support systems for students through special needs and learning support, behaviour support, student support and chaplaincy.
