Job Title :Assistant Management Accountant
Reports to:Senior Management Accountant
*Is responsible for variable costs accounting for all sites
*Period end and weekly reporting responsibilities
*Close liaison with the operations team, with operations, and labour reporting responsibilities
*Adhoc projects and overtime greater involvement in other areas of the business
*Providing key support for all members of the management and finance team.
*The role will suit someone who is good at taking responsibility, managing deadlines, good communication skills and likes to take initiative.
3. Principle Accountabilities
*To have a full understanding of all variable cost lines, and how these relate to the business. These include Electricity, gas, water, trade waste, licencing, I.T support and repairs, amongst others.
*The individual will work with the ops team and shared service centre to ensure that we account and provide for costs correctly.
*Maintain P&L helpdesk to answer queries on variable costs from the restaurants and operations team.
*Set up budget and forecast schedules for the key variables lines, and ensuring costs are fully understood, documented and sense checked.
*Period end processes and procedures to be improved and streamlined to ensure costs are accounted for efficiently, on a timely basis and are accurate.
*Liaising with shared service centre to recover duplicate payments, amend duplicate postings etc.
Balance sheet reconciliations
*Maintain Balance sheet accounts to ensure they are clean, and there are processes in place to identify mis-postings and any errors on accounts.
*Manage the collation of period end balance sheet recs
*Check that the reconciliation appear reasonable before sign off by financial controller
*Key responsibilities for reports included in the weekly reporting packs and the periodic board reports
*Daily Labour reporting and weekly operations reporting duties.
*Ensuring that reports are produced on time, error- free and sense checked.
*Adding commentary to aid understanding of reports
*Review current reports that are run and instigate improvements.
*Adhoc project work and analysis to understand the business and help provide information to key stakeholders.
*Adhoc work to be undertaken to streamline processes and reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for Job
*University Educated with analytical degree preferable
*Part Qualified accountant CIMA/ACA/ACCA preferable or willing to undertake CIMA qualifications
*The candidate should be a self-starter, who is willing and able to take initiative
*The holder will have good analytical skills driven by the effective use of Excel
*Good organisation and time management skills
*Excellent communication skills, and ability to liaise with different departments across the business.
