The Centre of Excellence for Accounting and Reporting is at the heart of the BBC’s Finance function, delivering an integrated, sustainable and high quality accounting and reporting service to our business and Finance customers at the right level of cost.
As Management Accountant, you’ll be responsible for providing professional financial support to the Divisional Financial Controller, BBC divisions, the Divisional Finance teams and Corporate Performance Reporting team. You’ll contribute to the delivery of the forecasting and budgeting processes of divisions and ensure effective short and medium term financial planning. You’ll input high level financial data adjustments and liaise with the Divisional Financial Controller in order to be able to change budget assumptions and produce the schedules and commentaries. You’ll also deliver all associated divisional reporting and management information in line with corporate policies and accounting best practice. Furthermore, you’ll identify and obtain information required from business contacts and Finance teams to explain monthly variances & KPI variances. You’ll also close year end accounts, agreeing final adjustments with audit and complete any additional requirements for year end statutory reporting purposes.
To succeed in this role, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation. You’ll demonstrate excellent attention to detail with a track record of solving complex problems, and preferably hold a professional accounting qualification e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification. You’ll be able to present sound and well reasoned arguments and draw from a range of strategies to persuade people in a way that results in agreement. Furthermore, you’ll be results orientated and focused on providing a high quality accounting and reporting service.
