Main Purpose of the Role:
To provide regular financial information and advice to College Management and Corporation.
To deliver an effective & timely financial planning and monitoring cycle.
To maintain the College fixed asset register.
To reconcile the control accounts.
To maintain the finance system and its development.
To assist with all external reporting requirements as determined by statute and funding bodies.
The post holder will be responsible and accountable for:-
1. Financial Information
i. Provide support and guidance to the Budget Holders, to manage the devolved budgets through understanding the business of the departments.
ii. To prepare monthly management information for Budget Holders, College Management Team and Corporation.
iii. To identify and investigate significant budget variances and make suggestions for corrective action.
2. External Reporting
i. Assist with preparation of financial plans that reflect the College’s strategic planning framework.
II. Assist with the preparation of the annual statutory accounts.
III. Prepare the VAT and ONS returns.
3. General Accounting
I. To process all general ledger journals relating to the preparation of the monthly management accounts.
II. To prepare balance sheet reconciliations as part of the monthly schedule.
III. Maintain the College fixed asset register ensuring that all assets are correctly identified, classed and recorded and process the monthly depreciation charge.
IV. Assist the Director of Finance in the evaluation and subsequent monitoring of capital expenditure and other projects.
4. System Development
I. To maintain the finance system, in particular the reporting and control environment.
II. To assist with systems development projects to improve the efficiency of the finance system to best support the College’s objectives.
5. Participating actively in the performance management scheme, agreeing objectives, attending reviews and undertaking Staff Development as required.
6. Promoting and supporting the development of the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy, ensuring compliance in all aspects of the organisational function.
7. Complying with the College Health and Safety Policy and all relevant Health and Safety requirements.
8. Such other duties as may be reasonably expected of the post holder.
