Management Accounts Assistant / Support Accountant
About the role
A smarter, more efficient, more effective, more responsive National Trust. That’s what we’re busy building. It’s why we’re streamlining the way we work, improving the way we deliver support services to our incredible places and spaces across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We’re freeing up local property managers and teams, so that they can focus on doing what they do best: delivering fantastic National Trust experiences to our visitors and supporters. To make sure that they receive the financial and accounting support they need, we have a number of experts here at our Finance Service Centre (FSC). From producing accounts to making payments to chasing debt, from insightful Management Information to pragmatic financial advice, the FSC provides a full end-to-end accountancy service.
Supporting our Management Accounting Manager and the Management Accountants, you’ll provide a high quality accounting service and accurate, relevant financial information to National Trust colleagues in our properties throughout England, Northern Ireland, Wales and also our central office in Swindon. To colleagues, you’ll be an invaluable point of support and know-how. As well as providing first line support and taking day-to-day enquiries from budget holders, you’ll help them to set up operating budget codes (including VAT codes) and, once approved, project codes. And to ensure that everything continues to run smoothly, you’ll also ensure that tasks on the monthly accounting timetable are carried out on time and to the highest standards.
Thanks to similar experience of working in a finance department, you’ll be familiar with the latest financial systems and processes. We’d also like you to have – or be studying towards – an accountancy qualification. Accurate and thorough, with sound PC skills (MS Excel in particular), you’re great at analysing financial information quickly and accurately. It’s also important that you’re confident working to tight deadlines.
Do great things for us and we’ll do great things for you and your career. We’ll give you the training, support and continued professional development you need, and we appreciate that work/life balance is important. You can also look forward to free admission to all our incredible places, and a helpful 20% off at our shops, cafes and restaurants. But they’re just the benefits we can tell you about here. There are lots more at www.nationaltrustrewardsandbenefits.org.uk
Here at the National Trust, we want even more people to enjoy our extraordinary places. We want people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved with them, be inspired by them, and love them as much as we do. That’s why we’ve put some bold ambitions in place. We want everyone in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to feel like a member of the National Trust and, by 2020, we want to have grown our membership to more than five million.

About The National Trust
We're a charity that looks after special places – for ever, for everyone. We look after mills, coastline, forests, moorland, islands, castles, nature reserves, villages, and even a goldmine. And we’re as much about people as the places in our care.
