About the role
In this crucial post, you will provide expert financial policy reporting, management accounting and advice and support on related public spending risk. Your clients will include a range of Treasury colleagues, plus Government departments, executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies. Working closely with our Public Spending and Public Services groups, you’ll develop their expertise in financial reporting and management accounting, including investment appraisal.
You’ll support teams in developing assurance tools, and you’ll help those working on high profile policy issues to identify, quantify and mitigate against financial risk. Your impact on high level approaches will extend to maintenance of the Government Financial Reporting Standards and Manual, and to the preparation of key papers on financial reporting issues. We’ll also expect you to lead the analysis of finance profession issues, from IASB discussion papers to IFAC exposure drafts.
About you
Professionally qualified in finance (CCAB/CIMA/equivalent), you have an impressive track record. A strategic thinker, you’ll bring to the role well-developed knowledge of IFRS and issues surrounding financial management and reporting. Specific knowledge of the public spending, financial reporting and spending control framework will be key to your success. It’s vital that you combine excellent technical analytical skills with an open and collaborative style of communication, demonstrating a flair for explaining effectively salient points to non-finance professionals.
