My client, a rapidly expanding fashion retailer is looking for an astute, hands on qualified Financial Controller to bring finance back in house by setting-up and ensuring the smooth running of their finance function.
Reporting directly into the UK Vice President, you will have overall responsibility for setting up and subsequently managing the Finance function. The day to day will involve financial accounting, monthly management accounts review, cash-flow, VAT compliance, international group consolidation accounting, budget preparation as well as development and implementation of accounting systems and internal controls.
You will also have to work closely with various auditors ranging from the internal audits from the foreign parent, to external audits such as UK compliance and HMRC routine based audits. You will be liaising with other members of the senior leadership team on a monthly basis and managing the business partnering relationships. This person will also be required to recruit, train and subsequently manage a team of 2-3 people staff including a Management Accountant and Accountant's Assistant / Purchase Ledger Clerk.
This position would be very project based as the finance department will have to be built from the ground up, as well as various ad hoc projects that come on board as a result of the ever expanding and growing environment.
As the successful candidate you will be qualified with prior experience of successfully building and running a finance function with a small team. You will have strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to meet all deadlines and work cross-functionally. SME and retail experience is essential preferred with consumer experience also being considered.
