Deputy Finance Manager/Deputy Business Partner

£29,358 - £33,076

Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North East; Telford, West Midlands

What HMRC does matters to the UK. We collect the money that pays for public services, and help individuals and families with targeted financial support. To deliver for the nation, we strive to be as efficient and effective as possible. It’s why we’re undergoing one of government’s largest, most ambitious transformation programmes. And it’s why you’ll relish this significant role in our success.

The transformation is set to deliver a more seamless, personalised service for our customers digitally, while internally providing colleagues with the infrastructure they need to work more efficiently. As part of this transformation we are also expanding our Finance team, and within that we have a position for a Deputy Finance Manager/Business Partner.

As a key member of the Delivery Group within the Chief Digital and Information Officer Group, you’ll play an influential role in our progress. For a start you’ll be a key point of contact for all financial issues, offering support and advice around governance, approvals and funding. When appropriate you’ll also be prepared to challenge decisions and viewpoints. As you help transform the finance team, you’ll find ways to deliver continuous improvement activity, including the roll out of SAP project accounting and the way we work with suppliers. We’ll also expect you to manage the financial reporting, forecasting, budget management and variance analysis, while taking responsibility for leading current and future year financial planning.

Our transformation makes this an exciting time to be joining us, but equally we are looking for someone who can make the most of the opportunity. As such you’ll need to be a qualified accountant (or studying towards a professional qualification), have a background in finance and ideally be working in a similar role now. Ideally you’ll also have experience of working in Excel. Finally, we’d hope that you are comfortable in a collaborative environment, and have the confidence to lead, communicate, change and improve.

In return for your dedication you’ll enjoy an excellent Civil Service benefits packaging including flexible working, pension and a generous leave allowance. You’ll also have the advantage of our commitment to investing in your development.
