We are currently seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our friendly and supportive Finance team on a part-time basis (days and hours to be agreed).
The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of portraits of the men and women who have helped shape British history and culture. Now numbering over 12,000 portraits the primary collection embraces every medium - oil paintings, drawings, miniatures, photographs, mixed/new media and sculpture. Besides this the Gallery has a photographs collection of 250,000 images and a reference collection of 80,000 prints. The Gallery has had an increasingly high public profile and now attracts over 2 million visitors to its galleries and regional partnerships.
Part time, 24 hours (3 days) gross per week
£19,200 per annum (Full-time equivalent of £32,000 per annum)
Fixed-term position for 18 Months
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant will lead on month end bookkeeping, assist with the year end accounts preparation, prepare the Gallery’s vat returns, maintain the financial systems and support the wider team through other general duties within the Finance department.
The successful candidate will be part ACCA qualified (or will be able to demonstrate equivalent experience), will be able to demonstrate substantial experience and skills gained within an accounting role within a finance department, and will be an excellent and motivated team player.
