Group Financial Controller
Robert Half is working in an exclusive partnership with Solid Solutions, a leading IT software reseller, to recruit a Group Financial Controller with proven commercial acumen. This role will be based in Leamington Spa (with travel to other Group offices) on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market leader during a continuing period of growth, both organically and through acquisition. With a number of projects on the horizon this role offers a path for growth and development.
This position offers a basic salary of up to £70,000 per annum plus benefits.
WHO ARE SOLID SOLUTIONS?
Solid Solutions was first established in 1998 as a reseller for SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD software, providing training and support in a multitude of areas. Having quickly and organically become the UK's leading SOLIDWORKS reseller, the company has achieved consistently strong growth year-on-year. It has been driven by a focus on recruiting the best from academia and industry alongside delivering high quality services and investing heavily in its systems and training.
Having made 2 acquisitions in the last 18 months, the Group now has a base of more than 12,500 customers across a wide range of industries based throughout the UK and Ireland, accounting for more than 80% of the market and targeting turnover of £45 million. The finance team, which currently comprises 15 people, is based across the Group's 3 main sites.
The company is backed by the Business Growth Fund (BGF) who provide growth capital to ambitious and growing companies. WHAT IS THE ROLE?
Reporting to the Finance Director, the role will have full responsibility for:
- Managing the finance teams and day to day accounting operations across the Group sites
- Overseeing the production of financial information for the Group, including monthly Board reports, operational management information and forecasts and budgets, as well as consolidated statutory accounts and reporting to stakeholders
- Helping to develop Group Reporting processes
- Improving management information including analysis, Board reporting and KPI performance
- Supporting the Finance Director with potential UK-based M&A activities
- Strengthening and monitoring the internal control environment and ensuring compliance with UK regulations
- Helping to drive change and process improvements
- Working alongside the management team to identify and implement ways to improve profitability
- Assisting with ad hoc projects to include system integrations and post-acquisition work.

This is a pivotal role, providing an excellent and exciting opportunity to work as number two to the Finance Director in a private equity-backed business and to add value within a fast-paced technology environment. My client is looking for a technically astute Qualified Accountant who will take control of the Group from a financial accounting and reporting perspective and who has a clear mandate to help develop and enhance the outputs and operations of the Finance department and thereby support the growth of the business.
You will be a driven individual with excellent man manager skills, who is comfortable maintaining a hands-on approach whilst getting the best out of the team. You will be looking to join a progressive business which will provide you with a strong platform to develop your career.
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED?
To be considered for this position you will be of graduate calibre and preferably qualified as an ACA/ACCA or equivalent. You will have held a senior finance position within a group setting and possess strong team management abilities. You will also have excellent attention to detail, a hands-on attitude and be able to demonstrate intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
