The Inventory Accountant is an important role within the Supply Chain Function, whose responsibility is the Budgeting, Procurement and Reporting of the Materials and Logistics Expenditure exceeding $130m pa

Description
  • Preparation of Weekly and Monthly Inventory Reports , by Location/Product Group etc, in GBP and USD, with variances to Plan etc
  • Preparation of Month End Journals relating to Inventory, COGS and other Logistics items, within tight deadlines
  • Review Inventory Transactions in Oracle to ensure accuracy of records - report on any variances or exceptional items
  • Report and monitor Cyclical Counts, investigate large variances. Play a major part in the Full Physical Count Process
  • Undertake Inventory Aging Analysis - review adequacy of provisions for accounting purposes and to assist Management in strategies to reduce Aged Inventory
  • Budget and Report on Materials/Services purchased in respect of Goods for Resale,analysing Variances - study Margins , identify exceptional items and bring to Management's attention
  • Ensure compliance with SOX procedures that impact Inventory - maintaining records of support and highlighting any potential weaknesses or exceptions to Management
  • Budget and Report on Logistics Expenditure - the main items being Freight In , Freight Out and Labour (including Temp Labour needs) - review variances, identify exceptions, continually review and look for Operational savings and efficiencies
  • Provide Decision Support analysis to suport the Logistics, Supply Chain and Sales Teams




Profile

  • Preferably possessing a Bachelors Degree in Finance/Accounting and/or relevant background experience in a manufacturing or Distribution Environment
  • Formal Accounting Qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) - will consider qualified by experience
  • Strong and proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience of Oracle and/or OBIEE an advantage
