Expanding and busy practice in North London with 10 staff and over 500 clients is looking for a senior accountant who would enjoy dealing with a portfolio of clients to include: small limited companies, partnerships and sole practitioners.
The owners of the firm started the business 12 years ago and are now focusing on developing subsidiary practices. They require a senior accountant to take responsibility for providing complete accounting and business support to their clients, including bookkeeping and payroll, monthly and annual accounts preparation, dealing with PAYE and VAT and corporate and personal tax returns.
You must have relevant and recent small practice experience (preparing Accounts for small businesses) and be used to working on your own initiative. Your tax knowledge must be up to date. You will have good IT skills and you will need to get up to speed with CCH integrated software which covers all aspects of accounts preparation and tax computations, as well as practice management – training will be given. You must have good people skills and be a good communicator, as you will be liaising with clients and often need to explain complex accounting matters clearly. You must be able to work unsupervised to tight deadlines.
You will be required to review the work of others eg: check junior staff work up to trial balance and then go onto prepare the Final Accounts and Corporation Tax Return.
You will support the management and administration of the technical side of the Company by implementing policy, training staff and keeping review files. You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, directors, clients and potential clients. You will assist in monitoring deadlines and chasing clients accordingly in conjunction with Senior Accountants and the Directors.
