Working collaboratively across the council, you’ll be responsible for providing support and high-quality advice on budget setting, planning and projects to all levels of management and politicians. You’ll be influencing key decisions around costs and risks, as well as drawing on your insight to advise on improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the council. As an experienced financial expert, you’ll provide direction on financial strategies, policy standards and the best practices to help us achieve our strategic objectives.
You’ll need to have a full CCAB qualification and evidence of your continuing professional development. Communication skills are vital for this role, as you’ll be working collaboratively with both internal and external partners, as well as across disciplines and with senior management. Ideally you’ll have experience of financial management in the public sector and you’ll have knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards. With a strong focus on improving performance and delivery, you’ll always be seeking out opportunities to provide innovative solutions and open to experimenting with new ways of working in the pursuit of better value and outcomes.
